Fence Installed and Gown Shopping!!

Well, the fence was installed this past weekend. I am SO happy!! It looks so much better.

Before:

After:

SO much nicer! I can't wait for the hostas to grow in. It's so much quieter too. Even when the dogs are out, they don't bark when they can't see us.

Yesterday I went with my daughter and her future Mother-in-Law to Chicago to look at dresses. Sydnee tried on 8 dresses yesterday and 4 a few weeks ago. We all knew as soon as she came out wearing "The One!" It is gorgeous!
I am very happy for her. I am still in Mom mode and worried she is too young but I trust her judgement and trust her choice. Marc is a really great guy and reminds me of her Dad. (My husband, NOT her biological dad!)

Store where we got the gown.

Picking up the gown...

             Look at her HUGE smile!

Me, Sydnee and her future MIL having lunch afterwards.

We had a really fun time!

Lamp for sale

I am selling the tin candle mold lamp in this picture. Original price $120, asking $45 plus shipping. Questions or interested, please send me an email at rference1@comcast.net
Update: lamp is sold. Thank you Becky!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I have been scrubbing windows and spring cleaning. Getting rid of things and organizing. Feels good!

I am very excited we will be getting a privacy fence along our driveway. Since moving in our home 7 years ago, our next door neighbor has acquired 5-8 dogs. I don't know if he is breeding them but I'm tired of them digging in my plants along the driveway. His solution is to come on OUR side of the fence and throw logs down on MY plants!! Believe me, they were thrown right back! Well, the fence is his, so we are having a privacy fence put on our side directly in front of it. Last weekend, he threw down some lovely cement blocks and attempted to install a wire electrical fence.
Hopefully, this time next week we will have the fence installed and no more looking at this...

See the white posts scattered. The electrical wire is attached with dog bones hanging from them!!
This guy used to be obsessed with his lawn. Now it's basically gone!
Well, soon we will be able to have our BBQs and Scott can ride his bike in the driveway again without the dogs barking like crazy at us! :)

THANK YOU!

I wanted to get in a proper THANK YOU to Janice of Prims By The Water. I won her 200 followers giveaway!

She gave me this gorgeous blue stoneware bowl and sweet thank you card. NO, thank YOU Janice!!

She also sent me this adorable blue wool penny pillow! I love it! I placed it on my bed to give a pop of color to my red heirloom-weavers pillows.

Next, I ordered one of Misi's wonderful topiaries from her picture trail 1890 Gable House and she goes and sends me 2!! How did she know 2 would look perfect on my dining room table?

Oh how I love them!!

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful Blessed Easter. Today I am coloring eggs with my kiddos and it's a pizza night. :)

Sconces and Getaway!

This past weekend, hubby and I took off on a mini vacation. We only had 1 full day since he had to work Friday and I had to work Sunday. We left on Friday late afternoon drove to Galena, IL. It was only 3 and a half hours from us and we've never been there. It was such a cute town!

This is the main street. This picture was taken from their website as it was raining the whole weekend!
We still had fun!
We woke up early on Saturday to start our "vacation" but unfortunately the town wasn't ready for us yet! We ended up taking a drive to Iowa which was only 45 minutes from Galena. I was excited to go to Wanda's shop Gatherings! Wanda was out "gathering" for her shop so I didn't get to meet her. :( Her shop was AWESOME!!! 3 floors of antiques, primitives and hand-dids! Click on the name of her shop to see pictures!  I got a calendar and an adorable bunny. I would show you a picture but my Mom came over and was raving about it so I gave him to her. She doesn't rave about my stuff so I knew she loved him.
We walked along the main street there and I found a pie safe for my dining room. I had been looking at them online and in magazines and wanted to replace the Target bookshelf I had with one.

I'm still playing with what to put on top. :)
Funny, I had mentioned painting it and the shop owner's eyes almost popped out of her head. It's over 100 years old.
I'll keep it with the original paint layers. I was just being thrown off by the white peeking through. I do like the pumpkin color.

I also got my new sconces installed. I LOVE them so much better than the ones I had. So glad I changed them to tin!

I got the sconces on Etsy from Calvins Lighting. It's the best price I've found. I was eyeing a chandelier for over the dining room table, but hubby is putting his foot down about keeping the one we have...boo ;(

Wondering...

I have such a love for tin lighting. It really brings a Colonial touch to any room.
I have only 1 place that is hardwired for electric sconces. Everywhere else I have sconces have to be candle sconces, which I still love!
I keep going back and forth with changing out my mantel sconces. They don't really match my style, but I like the different colors in them that bring out all the colors in my room.
So I was wondering, what would you do?
Here is my current sconce...

And this is the sconce I have been eyeing...

This picture is borrowed from the sellers website. I would go with some prim silicone bulbs instead.

I do love the single bulb sconces too but I need a bit more light in my room.
So tell me, would you change it out or keep the more "colorful" sconce? :)

Spring Photos

Thought I would post a few Spring photos from around my home while it's sleeting outside..:(

Went a little crazy with the Spring garland...

Little wire cloche that is on my kitchen island

ADORABLE bunny from Traci at York Mountain Primitives

Spring nest garland wrapped around my tree with hooked bunny head and carrot ornies.

Little shelf hubby made for me with wonderful rabbit from Janet's shop Winter Willow Primitives.

These are last years Spring ornies from Misi's shoppe/Picture Trail. I want to order a set of this years too, they look awesome!

A tool box given to my husband by an old plumber. I totally scammed it!

My attempt at a topiary... ;)

VERY simple egg display on my stove board.

The sleet is turning to snow by tonight. Guess I'll stay inside and get more Spring inspiration..:)

Reminder: my Spring giveaway will end next week. Thanks to everyone who has stopped by here and via email. I appreciate all your comments!
